Can artists *really* heal the world? 100 Days of Soulforce #4

As performing artists, we *know* that what we do makes a difference - we touch the lives of many people through our performances and teaching. And yet, the story we get from our society is often that the arts don't matter (what programs get cut first from schools, for instance?).

This story - the "Story of Separation" - is our civilization's foundational myth and is what is driving the climate crisis, among other problems in the world. There is another story - the "Story of Interbeing" - which can be understood as "unity with individuality." When we make art from a place of Interbeing, we undermine the Story of Separation and provide the greatest gift we can to a world in need.

Day 4 of 100 Days of Soulforce:

- What can we do as artists to heal the world? Is that even possible?

- The "Story of Separation"

- The "Story of Interbeing" with guided exercise: "You are me, seeing the world through a different set of eyes."

- Today's practice: Take this phrase into your daily life, applying to everyone you meet. "You are me, seeing the world through a different set of eyes."

What's "100 Days of Soulforce"?

I'm embarking on a mission to spread the word about Soulforce Performing Arts because I believe it is a needed message for artists of all kinds in our times. To that end, I'm making 100 videos over the coming 100 days (or so) to explain all the different angles and ideas, and to hopefully spark inspiration in you! Each video will have inspirational and practical ideas for you to bring more Soulforce to your life as a performing artist.

These ideas are a part of my upcoming book: "Soulforce Performance Arts: Redefining Artistic Performance, Practice, and Pedagogy in a World That's Lost Its Mind." Subscribers to my newsletter will get early access and special perks!
